Check out this story! I have seen it written up in a few places, but always cast in a very different light than this.. The petulance of the U.S. officials refusing to allow the goods to be inspected by sitting on the containers is pretty funny. Given the United States' history of repressive interventions in Central and South America and Argentina's recent amazing transformation via expropriations of factories, etc.. it doesn't seem at all absurd to suggest that this incident bears a whiff of black-ops or CIA resistance-arming. I have been looking for other reporting which does anything but quote the State Department's official version of the story (ie. "the US State Department said it was "puzzled and disturbed" by the seizure of what it claimed was routine equipment for training the Argentine federal police.") but haven't found much aside from this.
