I have some pretty major disagreements with him. He should have fought tooth and nail for a public option in health care reform instead of caving for a bunch of sweetheart deals for horrendously behaved private insurance corporations. He shouldn't be authorizing extrajudicial killings of American citizens far from a battlefield (see: Anwar Al Awlaki.. and for the record I don't think the United States should be involved in any extrajudicial killings whatsoever.. if it's worth prosecuting, it's worth doing it with full legal oversight). He should be going forward with an investigation of the prior administration's torture regime in accordance with international law.. especially in light of information now available thanks to wikileaks. I could go on, but I wanted to mention that I did hear a convincing discussion yesterday which attempted to make the point that Obama is spending his political capital in order to get difficult issues moving.. that's as opposed to trading political capital back and forth in efforts to stay in office longer..
